I hope you will attend my discussion today with Professor Scott Shapiro, author of Fancy Bear Goes Phishing: The Dark History of the Information Age in Five Extraordinary Hacks, where we’ll unpack how and why it’s so hard for us to stay ahead of threats posed by new technology. (I’m personally very excited to have learned the technical difference between a computer “virus” and computer “worm,” how Microsoft almost completely missed the boat on the internet explosion, and that so many of the biggest hacks were the result of a lack of basic cyberhygiene by people who should have known better.) This will be a fun conversation about how ordinary folks should think about cybersecurity. If you are not able to join live, the talk will be recorded and posted for paid subscribers tomorrow!
