Sorry for the typo in the title today -- Pancake was stepping all over my keyboard as I was writing and I didn't catch all of his retyping before hitting send!

We are literally watching our own Krystallnacht unfold in real time but instead over a week ( ? Krystallwoche )

This is how the flame of democracy dies.

Mainstream media has capitulated acting like all this is somehow almost normal.

Where is the voice of the Democratic party? This should be opposed in the strongest way possible.

Someone should be ringing the alarm.

I’m so glad there are people like you giving some perspective on the outrage being committed by this criminal enterprise.

Good question -- where is the Democratic party. Asleep at the switchboard. I just received an email from the DNC, asking for a donation. Except for a few great people like AOC I'm so sick of the same old/same old. I'm 78, so "old" for me has nothing to do with age but is a mental condition that some have when they're 25. Enough already.

Asha, thanks so much for everything you didn't write about today. 🥴 I feel I could have (not) written about all of those exact things (like you were in my brain), but you did it so much more eloquently. I was watching the Hegseth vote and want to vomit. And then seeing Newsom and Trump repeatedly shaking hands yesterday. So gross. I barely slept last night and am feeling so much disgust, anger, sadness, and worry. And it's only been on week.

"And I won’t write about Senator Mitch McConnell’s 11th hour change of heart, when he literally could have put an end to this entire s**tshow four years ago by convicting Trump in his second impeachment and barring him from ever holding public office again." This is the historical hingepoint from which there was virtually no recovery, and all of us who recognized it at the timer prognosticated in vain.

I love this post! What a great way to discuss the terrible stuff the dictator has done so far, and still remind us to live our lives. Your insight is very helpful in these times. And yes, we all saw the nazi salute and he hasn’t even denied it. And I will see and hear you on the Contrarian. And thanks for your adorable cat photo!

Thanks for the advice, Asha. I started the day in tears, but my darling called and reminded me to take a break from the news. So I will listen to both of you and find a distraction instead. Peace and Love.

Aw thanks for the adorable picture of... I'm gonna say your cat, unless it's a dust mop with feet?😜🐈

This is, what I‘d like to do: hiding until you elected another President…

I’m happy that your aren’t writing about any of those terrible things that happened this week. Enjoy your weekend and continue speaking the truth.

Mental health self-care is key. Glad you stepped out of the firehose for a bit. I checked out some as well. Yesterday I teamed up with my husband to fix our fence (wielding power tools is satisfying!), watched Pirates of the Caribbean, and had a lovely early dinner out with the hubby.

PS did all you guys see that the inspectors general refused to leave? They told the White House to lawyer up!
