Couple things: one, Pam Bondi is sounding more and more like a mynah bird. (Note her uses of one of Trump's favorite descriptors "deranged'' in talking about the judge the FBI just arrested; two, this whole thing, while it is frightening in its sheer audadicty, also looks like an old vaudeville comedian who's schtick is no longer working and begins tap dancing like mad in an effort to elude the hook coming toward him from behind the curtain.
Professor Rangappa, your description and analysis of the Milwaukee judge’s arrest explains a lot and shows just how inept the DOJ as run by the big guy’s stooge is. You explain very well that the point of this arrest is judicial intimidation. She says she plans to make other such arrests. Judicial intimidation is a big step toward authoritarianism. Thank you for fighting the good fight.
It's nothing but a sad attempt to intimidate people in general. I'm not impressed. I hope she sues them into oblivion. I would definitely remember the name of everyone involved and come after them later.
Team Judge here. I refuse to believe that out of 2 DEA people not 1 understood or spoke Spanish. I refuse to believe of the 6 who worked with ICE/FBI/DEA none spoke Spanish or could translate. (But I realize the stupidity and cruelty are the point.) If the judge expected him to get arrested, kudos to her to do it in a safer area where it wouldn't be in the way of many and where many wouldn't have to witness it.
I don't think winning is the point here. I think it is simply making a point and instilling the fear and anger in so many.
I hope there's a way people can help this Judge with therapy bills, meals, hugs and simply saying how many are on her side.
The People, the protectors of Democracy, are out and about. What "people," out where, about what--and why? First, millions said "Hand Off"to Trump/Musk et al, then on the 19th via 50501" (50 protests, 5o states, 1 Movement) millions more protested the mess in WDC. Also on the 19th we celebrated the "the shot heard around the world at Lexington and Concord, starting the Revolution and our country. On the 22nd protectors of the environment cleaned up a different kind of mess on Earth Day.
As important as the participants in environmental mess cleanup and American history are, this post is dedicated to the named and unnamed protestors fighting the Trump/Musk Washington, DC, tyrannical mess. Or as Susan Grymes calls it: "Protectors" of democracy, and so shall I in this post.
Who are the Protectors of democracy on April 5, 19th, May 1st--or all the everydays in between and into the future?? We will never know the names of each individual marcher, sign holder (or just standing together in solidarity). But we do know by name some people, advocacy groups, judges and law firms, and other entities who have not been cowed, and have fought back publicly--sometimes under threat of death.. Some, such as Sen. Cory Booker, with his 25 hour righteous speech on ethics, morality, and American democracy, have become an inspiration. Here then, in no particular order of noteworthy (except the first three), are the names of many of the army of protectors of democracy--and remember Courage is Contagious:
(Of course, the list is imperfect, Additions are welcomed. Also re-posting is permitted and encouraged.

The felon stated he was going to be a dictator, he not only kept his word on that, he is now continuating his dictator role. Just like putin, anyone gets in his way, he has them arrested. The MAGA republicans in office are following his lead, it is time we vote out all republicans to clean house.
1. Was the administrative warrant for Ruiz covered by the statute? Was the (successfully) attempted arrest a “proceeding?”
2. How does FBI get to arrest someone on a “complaint?” Was there an arrest warrant? Same magistrate?
3. Did the US Attorney sign off on this? Surely there are internal safeguards in cases involving public officials (judges no less) performing their duties.
What’s up with taking 6 officers to arrest one guy? As he was deported previously in 2013, they had a photo of him so could just stake out the entrances.
And why no judicial arrest warrant for violation of 8 USC 1326 (reentry after deportation)?
His fake hair is becoming more and more aggressive in its style. His filler has plumped his cheekbones and his lips. Now if there was just something for his heart. It’s the part that’s way too small.
It's uncanny how frequently attacks and criticisms Trump officials have for their enemies apply so much better to themselves.
From other articles the officers did not have a warrant signed by a judge, but rather an administrative ICE form.
Professor Rangappa, your description and analysis of the Milwaukee judge’s arrest explains a lot and shows just how inept the DOJ as run by the big guy’s stooge is. Anna Bower of Lawfare posted on Bluesky about AG Pam Bondi going on Fox News to describe the alleged facts in the case saying:
"The Attorney General is so unserious.
If you’re a prosecutor who is serious about obtaining a conviction, you don’t go on Fox and talk about the (alleged) facts of the case like this.
Has Bondi read the Justice Manual? Has Bondi heard of pretrial publicity motions? How about bar ethics rules?"

Bondi is a Trump bimbo.
In the swirl of headlines and heartaches, it’s easy to lose the shape of the deeper current beneath.
Yet here, in careful gathering, we remember: the story of our time is not chaos—it’s the slow, stubborn building of conscience.
Every thread you weave brings weight to the invisible structures holding us upright.
This is the quiet generosity in action—the math of compassion—etched through small acts that ripple wider than we can know.
What deeper music might we hear if we listened not just to the news, but to the heartbeat inside it?

I believe I read that ICE only presented an Immigration Warrant, not a Criminal Warrant. That would explain only an ICE signature.
I'm surprised the 6 of them tried to serve it in her Court; seems ICE spends a lot of time and energy avoiding courtrooms.
Makes it seem like they were looking to pick a fight/ cause a scene.
Curious about some of the inner workings here.
4. Arraignment before case goes to grand jury?
Odds of pretrial dismissal seem very high.
????? You’re being imitated
If I refused a Supreme Court order I would be arrested by U.S. Marshals why not him!
Thank you so much for this great recap of what actually happened. So often there are only headlines and not enough information. Again, thank you!
What’s up with taking 6 officers to arrest one guy? As he was deported previously in 2013, they had a photo of him so could just stake out the entrances.
And why no judicial arrest warrant for violation of 8 USC 1326 (reentry after deportation)?
