Reminder About Upcoming Guest Speaker

This is a reminder that author Tim Weiner will be speaking to the Substack class on Wednesday, February 15, at 3:00 EST. Paid subscribers will receive a link at noon that day. Tim Weiner is an author and journalist. He has been awarded the Pulitzer Prize and the National Book Award for reporting and writing on the American intelligence community. As a correspondent for The New York Times, he covered the CIA and reported from Afghanistan, Pakistan, Sudan, and many other nations in times of war, conflict, and crisis. His six books include Legacy of Ashes and Enemies: A History of the FBI, histories of the CIA and FBI. He is working on a book about the 21st-century CIA.

We’ll be discussing Tim’s last book, The Folly & the Glory: America, Russia, and Political Warfare 1945-2020, and in particular the lessons we can take from some of the CIA’s successful information operations — like Operation HELPFUL — into today.
