I've not been sanctioned by Russia yet either and it never stops hurting. My Library Project is banned in Russia now though for spreading rumors about Putin having cancer. That's something I guess.

Putin has cancer? 😃

A couple of shady friends of mine who don't deal with each other told me independently that Putin caught spray cancer and was dying and on medication that made him swell up.

A week later, the defense department leaked documents saying what I heard and a few weeks later the Enquirer had the headline. I spread the rumor a week before the defense department leak 😂.

Re: Tocqueville

Rodgers & Hammerstein, circa 1949, "South Pacific"-

"You've got to be taught to hate and fear

You've got to be taught from year to year

It's got to be drummed in your dear little ear

You've got to be carefully taught

You've got to be taught to be afraid

Of people whose eyes are oddly made

And people whose skin is a diff'rent shade

You've got to be carefully taught"

The assignment of a Special Master gives me the impression that Weiss thinks there must be something a lot bigger than the tax charge and gun carry issue. ... and I'd be surprised if AG Garland would approve a Special Master authorization unless he was similarly convinced. But it sure seems like 5 yrs would have been more than enough time to ferret something out. BTW, Mr Conway might be attempting to challenge your rein in the flowchart arena ; ). Have a great summer Prof Rangaappa.

I don’t get the “why” of Hunter getting a special master! I thought the guy appointed had spent years investigating and found nothing? What’s the point of it all 🙁🙁🙁

Poor Republicans...ALL they’ve got to work with is Hunter Biden who they will beat like a dead horse until November 2024. If only they had real criminals to investigate like Jared Kushner or Don Jr.!!!

I’d bet the farm the GA indictment is imminent, giving Trump a “full house” with ALL indictments handed down. What a LOSER!!!

What’s scary is those who fit these descriptions always think that they apply to someone else...

Great and appreciated roundup as always. Loved It's Complicate. Always so informative. As to source of Judge LC's motion (?), on Twitter I've seen an attribute quote to an analyst at FOX Business (obviously a bit outside his lane). It was aired the night before JLC's ruling. Correlation isn't causation; on the other hand, what are the odds?

It isn't at all clear to me that this will mean Hunter will face a new trial. The plea deal was clearly misunderstood by the two sides. So the "other stuff" that the Weiss's team thought they were reserving will now be looked at--I don't see why this couldn't just lead to a new, more complete plea deal. With a special counsel who fits the terms of the special counsel status. But somehow the very thing that the GOP screeched for is now a coverup.

The media could better spend its time looking at, out of all the tax investigations for improperly reported income, where the deficit has been paid, how many have resulted in prison time. Or how many people with business deals in China--or Saudi Arabia, or Russia--have been prosecuted. Or how many people have been sentenced to how long for a gun-permit violation. And the subset of those who showed suicidal ideation when they bought the gun.

Then, when either a plea deal or prosecution ensues, it can be judged fairly as to whether or not it is "sweetheart" or overly strict. The statistics are out there, one can be sure.
