A former U.S. president’s mug shot — MUG SHOT, people — is now on t-shirts and being used as a campaign fundraising tool, making it clear that just when you think American democracy can’t get any lower, it most definitely can. Anyhoo, while we engage in collective therapy to get this image unseared from our brains, let’s turn to the next legal developments in Georgia. Yesterday, I read that an attorney in Florida has filed a motion in court that Trump is ineligible to hold office again due to insurrection and rebellion against the government. Exhibit A: That ridiculous “We love you” video on Jan. 6! Lawrence Tribe has been discussing the 14th on Twitter (Not going to say “X”), so hopefully this will become a growing movement the closer we get to the primary season and general election!
asha.. i agree that getting caught up in the “technique” of mindfullness seems to make it harder to meditate.. i think just focusing on the breath, or as you mentioned maybe the sounds around you, works best..its true though, being in the moment, right here, right now, is powerful.
Regarding meditation: I have found Insight Timer, for me, is a way to explore various meditation techniques. It can become very personalized for what I want and need.
I really enjoy listening to you explain things to those of us without a legal background. Most of it becomes much clearer, and I actually understand what’s going on so that I can discuss and dispute it when necessary. Thank you both for taking the time to enlighten us.
Great point about the inconsistency of the state legislatures' roles in federal elections. It's important to have these illogical arguments on the record to be used against them in the future.
How can the fake electors make a claim to remove to federal court by saying they were acting as federal officers? By definition electors come from the states, no?
The MAGA efforts to de-legitimize our justice system is my greatest concern. When any prosecution for violation of our election laws is called politically motivated, we are sliding toward authoritarianism.
If we’re now on chapter 14 of this Trump thing and it’s just the beginning, how long do you anticipate this thing dragging on for, forever and ever?
In other news, I saw an image/video of Joe Biden wearing a Beau Biden Foundation baseball cap - so, of-course, I had to look it up; among recent donors: biotech remedy, etc, etc, is Meow Meow Foundation… tragic and surreal.
