The line of the podcast was definitely Renato's: "There's a lot of defenses that lawyers have that people don't."

Honorable mention to Renato trying to use a football metaphor with Asha.

Just imagine the uproar from the MAGA-Hypocrite party if Don Jr. had been indicted on gun charges (violated 2nd Amendment rights), and Nancy Pelosi had announced impeachment proceedings against Trump with zero evidence of “high crimes and misdemeanors” but imaginary crimes connected to Don Jr.!

"maniacal laughter" will overwhelm much of the country if Hunter walks because the statute he is charged under is declared unconstitutional. Gun-nuts will be screaming "Impeach Biden! He used the 2nd Amendment to shield his son."

One topic I am curious about is why there has been no charges brought yet on members of Congress related to the Jan 6 investigation. Is that because the speech and debate clause has sufficiently shielded them? Or perhaps they are still being pursued as a lower priority? Or just that their unseemly behavior did not cross criminal boundaries? I'd be curious to whatever thoughts you and Mr Mariotti might have. Thx for your time and effort here, Prof Rangappa!

Andrew Clyde, a Georgia House member & gun sales guru, should be supportive of Hunter because of his huge support of the Second Amendment! But.....

You can thank the Department of Justice & FBI for criminally covering up the crimes of the entire Biden family. 15 U.S. Code § 1611-Knowingly 22 USC § 8511(6)-definitions; 18 U.S. Code § 922 - Unlawful acts; 18 U.S. Code § 1038- False information and hoaxes; Failures in 18 U.S. Code § 798 - Disclosure of classified information; 18 U.S. Code § 2381 - Treason; 18 U.S. Code § 2382 - Misprision of treason; 18 U.S. Code Chapter 115 - TREASON, SEDITION, AND SUBVERSIVE ACTIVITIES: includes the following;

§ 2383. Rebellion or insurrection, § 2384. Seditious conspiracy, § 2385. Advocating overthrow of Government, § 2386. Registration of certain organizations, § 2387. Activities affecting armed forces generally, § 2388. Activities affecting armed forces during war, § 2389. Recruiting for service against United States, § 2390. Enlistment to serve against United States. From Ukraine to China the Biden family has engaged in multiple and compounded crimes that by the obfuscation of responsibilities via "THE OATH" to which everyone in the DOJ & FBI take just like every Law Enforcement & Correctional Officer takes, including the Military.. the very four last words are the binding and bond against each person who affirms "SO HELP ME GOD" The American British Accreditation Registry (Foreign Agents of the Crown of England - violation of FARA, Article 1 Section 9 - Clause 8 also known as the Emoluments Clause is the legal arm of force that is also engaged in the previously mention and listed crimes. Basically, the entire Government of the United States of America and the Corporation of THE UNITED STATES (ALL CAPS - ref: U.S> Styles Manual) is in fact of Constitutional Law stands in utter Treason against the Constitution and against We the People. Need I say more?

I think you live in a blue bubble. To celebrate someone in the elite class getting obvious special treatment that you and I would never get is puzzling. However, I think you miss the point. It's really about Joe Biden and his corruption. Joe Biden is accused of selling us out to our enemies for his own gain. This should not be a party issue. Democrats, Republicans and Independents are profoundly effected by this. Only time will tell how disastrous it may be.

Just a reminder for perspective. Until 2024; Joe Biden is OUR president, Donald Trump is a private citizen. Joe Bidens actions effect our country and the world. Donald Trumps actions do not... Don't let the media divert your attention from what is really important today.

Based on what you've been led to believe, it's evidently you who live in a bubble. In the real world, Hunter Biden is indeed getting somewhat special treatment: according to most prosecutors the relatively minor crimes he is accused of are rarely prosecuted. Joe Biden can be "accused" of anything, as can you or I. But in reality there has been absolutely no evidence - none - of corruption on his part presented. Totally agree this should not be a party issue. So why are only MAGA Republicans and their propaganda outlets making these groundless "accusations", but zero moderate Republicans or Democrats?

Trump's crimes and corruption, by contrast, of which there is copious evidence in plain public view and admitted by him, are acknowledged by quite a few Republicans publicly, and by most Republican politicians privately. (This last is attested to by other REPUBLICANS; the imaginary bugaboo "mainstream media" merely report what they are told - they are mostly working stiffs like you and get fired if they don't.)

And just a reminder: Joe Biden is not even *accused* of any malfeasance while he's be president; even the made-up accusations are from much earlier. By contrast, much of the crime Trump has been *indicted* for - by grand juries of ordinary people just like you presented actual evidence, not some imaginary "elites" - such as subverting our democracy and repeated endangering our national security and interest for personal gain, took place WHILE he was President of the United States, and did profoundly affect our country and the world! (By Justice Dept. policy he could not be prosecuted while in office, so obviously accountability must come later.)

And yes, only time will fully tell how disastrous this was. Don't let the media you watch divert your attention from how important it is to never let it happen again!

I voted for Romney in 2012. To my relief, he has not made me regret it.

When it comes to guns, I was a fan of the old CHL system Texas had. You could have a CHL, but you had to pass a background check, complete a class on state and federal laws, and demonstrate proficiency on the range. The permit was also convenient for performing background checks.

On Hunter Biden, I'm coming down with the Bulwark crew. Let me know if he ever decides to run for public office.

Hello, and thanks for the great work you do. Re: the 14th Amendment and Trump's disqualification-Are we not overthinking all this? Since the Secretaries of State enforce the requirements to qualify for the ballot in THEIR particular states, couldn't they just disqualify Trump from their ballot given Section 3 of the amendment? They would have to give the evidence that matches the wording of the section, but there would be a buffet of behaviors for them to chose from, especially the "giving comfort to the enemy"? (I would imagine the Proud Boys/Oath Keepers are comforted every day they are in jail when Trump indicates he will pardon them, I would bet some of them have even been assured they will be.) Point is, the ball would then be in TRUMP'S court! He would have to challenge that in court with evidentiary denials of the behaviors. I think that's what the conservative advocates mean by self executing. Correct? seems to me Donald Trump kept demanding Obama's birth certificate. Yes/No/Maybe?

Keep up the great work.
