I was very happy to see the bench slap over copyright licensing for music against the Trump-Vance campaign. If even my little church has to regularly fork over a hefty chunk of cash and do weekly reporting of songs sung during services to CCLI then I think the campaign can do the right thing. Artists deserve to be paid and their moral rights deserve respect.
I expect Republican controlled states to ban history books that tell this disturbing truth, but a number of US Congressmen and Senators were using their free mailing privileges to mail out Nazi propaganda to their constituents right up until Hitler declared war on the United States. Some got a ton of Nazi money for their services. Not one went to jail. Of pro-Nazi titans of industry behind the Nazi front "America First" foundation, no one was charged, let alone prosecuted and jailed. In like manner, of the members of Congress who were directly involved in the attempted insurrection on 1/6, so much so they officially sought pardons from Trump, not one has been charged. Our enemies would have to be blind, deaf and dumb not to see that America has always given the wealthy and influential free license to treason. And our wealthy and powerful pro-fascist billionaires also haven't failed to notice that they can plot against our nation with no fear whatever that the Justice Department will even name names, let alone incarcerate them for their activities.
For myself, I am not hopeful that this Justice Department will lay a hand on anyone but low level malefactors in any of this. I don't expect to see DOJ go after any of the masterminds and bankrollers behind any of these efforts to overthrow our democracy. And I certainly don't expect Trump jailed or any of his major co-conspirators in Congress charged. And if I am any of America's enemies, I wouldn't see this round of indicted You-Tubers as anything but a triumph and a green light to expand my efforts, focusing on billionaire tech bros like Musk, Ellison and the rest of the Silicon Valley robber barons.
Ahsa, I guess it doesn’t hurt to ask you, as a supporter of Native Indian Leonard Peltier and his release from a life time of incarceration for arguably not shooting two FBI agents, why is your former boss so vocal wanting Leonard to remain in prison until death. The evidence shows he wasn’t the proven suspect.
Thank you for this excellent piece - I think most civilians think of spy’s and influence campaigns like it’s a movie - a foreigner learns English and does all the work - it’s notable too to mention it’s possible these people may not have been aware of the fact this TN company was in fact Russian influenced and run. The level of sophisticated approaches used is really unbelievable and that’s the plots we’ve uncovered - who knows who’s on the payroll in TN not on this list????

I thought I had been removed from the Friday Roundup....glad Asha was the one taking a break. I've been disengaged from too much news recently, so I appreciate the precis... "Roundup" is the perfect name for the news piece....it's the wild west with that outlaw Trump. Incidentally, so happy that Dick Cheney publicly stated he would vote Harris in November. His Bush Administration work partly caused the rise of Trump, but at least he has a sense of propriety regarding Democracy. Regardless, I don't think a Cheney "endorsement" makes any impact on the election results.
